Job Overview
Eutelsat are looking for an intern with a passion for computer science, applied mathematics and optimization concepts to join our team. The intern will work on innovative projects within the framework of a new GEO Software Design Satellite, aimed at searching, developing, and improving optimization algorithms to solve complex problems of bandwidth, coverage, and performance management of the satellite.

You are a curious and driven student eager to apply your academic background to real-world problems. You are passionate about algorithms, optimization, and turning complex data into actionable insights. You enjoy working in a collaborative, international environment and want to make a difference in the future of satellite communications.

What You’ll Do:

Research and Analysis:
• Study existing optimization algorithms (PSO, GA, SA, GD…), including classical methods (such as simplex, linear programming) and modern approaches (such as evolutionary algorithms, metaheuristics)
• Analyze specific industry use cases to identify optimization opportunities

Algorithm Development:
• Design and develop optimization algorithms adapted to identified problems
• Implement and test these algorithms using programming languages such as Python, C++, or others

Validation and Tuning:
• Carry out performance tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed algorithms
• Adjust parameters and refine models according to test results

Documentation:
• Write technical documentation and reports on methods used and results obtained
• Present results in team meetings and share recommendations for future research

Collaboration:
• Work closely with other team members and participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas on optimization
• Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to understand their needs and adjust work objectives accordingly

What You’ll Need:
• Student in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Programming experience (Python, C++, etc.)
• Experience using Matlab
• Understanding of optimization concepts (linear and non-linear programming, metaheuristics)
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
• Good level of English
