Job Overview
Lead the TCR Engineering team to manage the engineering design and the operational support of the global TCR ground resources required for the satellite control operations for the Eutelsat Group’s GEO and LEO satellite fleets, and any other satellites Eutelsat is providing engineering design or operational support for. This for example includes Eutelsat’s contribution within the SpaceRISE consortium to the IRIS^2 program.
Lead the TCR team to deliver engineering designs which maintain the operational availability to its highest level. As part of an operational support escalation framework monitor and resolve any operational issues related to TCR ground equipment and associated supervision and control systems.
Perform the technical specification, validation and the operational implementation of any new ground segment TCR equipment or software application.
Duties will include:
Leadership of the TCR Engineering Team , with responsibilities for :
- Line Management of team members located in a number of global locations
- Team development and objections setting
- Team workload resource management
- Team member recruitment, onboarding, mentoring and training
- Budget forecasting and budget financial oversight management
Manage service operations for a global network of TCR earth station sites and act as the technical interface with our contractors and technology partners. This includes monitoring the quality of services provided throughout the operational period and ensuring compliance with availability commitments (SLAs).
Coordinate the engineering support activities of the TCR field support team at worldwide sites.
Define functional and operational upgrades to the TCR network and systems based on future needs. Analyze various alternatives, prepare technical specifications, and monitor development programs at the technical level. Select new TCR station baseband equipment and new versions of the remote management software. Supervise the installation of TCR ground equipment and remote management software deployment activities and perform technical acceptance.
Coordinate TCR network maintenance activities from external suppliers based on user constraints. Write TCR network operating procedures.
Organize and supervise the operational support of the TCR network by site personnel. This includes the oversight of preventive and corrective maintenance performed by Field personnel and equipment manufacturers. Evaluate equipment performance trends and reliability with reference to defined SLA targets.
Coordinate and act as an interface with the Quality and Safety managers, and the TCR team members for everything directly related to the definition, monitoring, and control of these processes.
Perform TCR Ground Operations on-call escalated support as required (1 week out of 4 on average).
What It Takes:
Strong experience in the field of engineering, maintenance and 24/7 operation of TCR ground systems for satellite control.
Proven experience in engineering team leadership.
Experience in satellite command and control baseband equipment, signal processing and its remote control.
The Position is located in Eutelsat Group HQ office in Issy-Les-Moulineaux, Paris with limited access to teleworking.
Availability and flexibility required for operational needs, including occasional multi-day travel to TCR Ground Earth Station sites worldwide and equipment vendor facilities.
