Satellite Avionics / Attitude Control Engineer

Mission : 

 

Perform satellite avionic subsystem activities in particular the satellite attitude control and on-board software activities within the Satellite Engineering Directorate reporting to the Head of Satellite Platform Engineering

 

Functions : 

 

  • Assess the adequacy of satellite attitude determination and control, and on-board software specifications with respect to the mission and operation requirements and ensure correct interfacing within other subsystems.
  • Actively monitor and assess the design, development, build, integration and test of the avionics subsystems and on-board software from equipment to system level up to satellite in-orbit acceptance test review
  • Perform on-site review of avionic test results, including those from launch site campaigns when required, to ensure real-time decision making on test result acceptability
  • Represent Eutelsat at technical meetings and reviews at satellite equipment, subsystem, system levels and launcher interface level including launch campaigns when required to ensure that Eutelsat’s design, analysis and test requirements are being followed and that the avionic equipment and subsystem performances will enable Eutelsat’s requirements to be met
  • Ensure that other members of the satellite platform engineering team and the satellite project teams are kept informed as to progress and issues as and when they arise
  • Assist in support the Satellite Control Operation Engineers in (i) reviewing flight operations procedures for manoeuvre management, (ii) proposing recommendations for investigation and remedial actions in case of in-orbit anomalies, and (iii) monitoring and evaluating in-orbit performances of spacecraft, for avionics and satellite attitude control related activities
  • Provide attitude control engineering and on-board software expertise as required
  • Stay abreast of technology, assist in evaluation of proposal for future programmes and highlight problem areas

 

Qualifications required : 

 

- Master or PhD degree in Space Engineering or relevant technical field

- At least 10-year experience in satellite engineering with a recognised expertise in satellite attitude control

- Excellent understanding of principles for spacecraft design, manufacture, assembly, integration, test and operation

- Experience in International space projects and in industrial customer/supplier relationship

- Skills in on-board software engineering would be an asset

- Autonomous and proactive working style with excellent working organisation and ethics

- Communicating effectively, excellent relational skills and ability to work in a team with different professional and cultural backgrounds

- Excellent knowledge in English
