Job Overview
The Resident Program Manager (RPM) is responsible for on-site oversight of the production of the Gen 1R satellite constellation for Eutelsat, consisting of several hundred satellites.
The primary objective of this role is to ensure full visibility into the industrial program execution at the supplier’s premises, continuously monitoring schedule progress and risks, and promptly reporting any potential issues to the Gen 1R program Manager at the headquarters.
The RPM acts as the official representative of the Satellite Program Management Organization at the supplier’s production site.
What You’ll Do:
Program Monitoring
- Provide day-to-day oversight of satellite production status (supply chain status, assembly, integration, testing, environmental campaigns, shipment).
- Ensure alignment between the industrial plan, contractual milestones, and actual production progress.
- Identify and escalate deviations related to schedule and technical performance.
- Deliver structured and regular reporting to the Satellite Program Management Organization on status, risks, and mitigation actions.
Risk Management and Issue Resolution
- Immediately report technical, industrial, or supply chain risks to management.
- Actively participate in the resolution of production issues, non-conformances, and delays.
- In collaboration with the Product Assurance representatives of Eutelsat, facilitate root cause analysis and monitor corrective actions.
- Support escalation processes toward local supplier senior management, when required.
Interface and Coordination
- Maintain daily interface with the supplier’s Program Manager and production leads.
- Closely collaborate with:
- Operator’s Quality Manager
- Engineering teams (system and subsystem representatives)
- Satellite Program Organization
- Participate in technical and program reviews.
- Ensure consistency between on-site operational decisions and strategic direction defined by the Satellite Program Management Organization.
Quality and Compliance Oversight
- Monitor compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
- Support audit activities and quality surveillance.
- Ensure transparency in the management of non-conformances, waivers, and deviations.
What You’ll Need:
Technical
- Significant experience (preferably 10+ years) in space programs or high-reliability complex system production.
- Strong knowledge of satellite Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) processes.
- Familiarity with milestone management, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk management practices.
- Understanding of space industry quality and configuration management processes.
- Adherence to program schedule and contractual milestones
- Effective identification and mitigation of program risk
- Resolution time for critical non-conformances
- Quality and timeliness of reporting to the management of the Satellite Program Management Organization
- Level of transparency and collaboration with the supplier
