Who You Are:
You are the lead contributor on advanced communication payload activities in charge of
- defining advanced payload solutions for SDR satellites and LEO constellation,
- developing technical solutions for new applications,
- providing technical expertise in on board processor and digital parts of active antenna design within the Space Engineering Department.
What You’ll Do:
- Applies in-depth knowledge on the definition and dimensioning phase for new SDR (Software Defined Radio) satellite generation and LEO constellations taking into account the strategic, commercial and operational requirements and the industrial issues; contribute to the development of the appropriate contractual documentation
- Actively monitor and assess the specification, design, development, build, integration and test of the advanced payload equipment (e.g. on-board processor, active antenna) procured by Eutelsat.
- Represent Eutelsat at technical meetings and reviews at satellite equipment, subsystem and system level to ensure that Eutelsat’s design, analysis and test requirements are being followed and that the equipment, and payload performances will enable Eutelsat’s communication performance requirements to be met.
- Provide expertise, in coordination with Payload Engineers, for assessing the impact of non-compliances and proposing mitigations for satellite(s) in production
- Identify innovative concepts for the Eutelsat satellites and assess their relevance, and develop opportunities for and work on externally funded projects (e.g. ESA, EC)
- Perform and manage technical studies and assessments towards the optimization/evaluation of the communication performance requirements/utilization of EUTELSAT’s satellites, including those in the definition phase, in production and in-orbit when new applications or redeployments as required
- Propose solutions, in coordination with Payload Engineers and Operations Engineers, to anomalies of SDR satellites in-orbit regarding the system level communications and processor performance
- Stay abreast of satellite, processed payload (including active antennas) and communications technology and architectures
What it Takes:
- University honors degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical, Physics or a related field.
- At least 15 years of experience in satellite communications and/or payload engineering, including a few years of experience in processed communication payload, on-board digital processors design, optical link, and active antenna design.
- Good knowledge of satellite and constellation systems engineering, propagation, link budgets.
- Knowledge of digital communications and signal processing.
- Good IT skills.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Excellent knowledge of English.
