Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Network and Security Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the operational availability, protection and integrity of the networks dedicated to controlling Eutelsat's fleet of GEO satellites.
In this position, you will work closely with the satellite control systems security manager, system/network engineers and satellite engineers, contributing directly to our ongoing projects and initiatives. Who You Are:
You are an engineer or have a five-year degree (or equivalent). You have at least three years' experience in IP/WAN network implementation, operation and maintenance. You also have experience in data network security.
You are as interested in network solution engineering as you are in the implementation, daily monitoring and support of these solutions.
What You’ll Do:
You will be responsible for engineering activities.
- Participate in engineering activities related to the identification and selection of technical solutions and the design of local and remote networks.
- Participate in the implementation and qualification of new equipment.
- Write technical documentation. Write and validate operating procedures.
- Lead network infrastructure deployment projects for the control centre's needs, in France and abroad.
You will also be required to perform operational tasks.
- Ensure the proper functioning and optimization of deployed systems. (switches, routers, firewalls, security/IDS equipment)
- Manage and monitor services for equipment updates and migrations.
- Participate in the automation of network equipment management.
- Participate in the configuration of the monitoring and alert system. (Zabbix, Elastic Stack)
- Monitor and resolve operational issues in networks and associated monitoring systems.
- Provide on-call support for operations, typically one week every 45 days or so, with telephone or on-site support (Issy-les-Moulineaux) as needed, for the maintenance of main networks and systems.
You will be responsible for a technical role in network security.
- In collaboration with the satellite control systems security manager, design, organize the technical deployment and maintain the technical solutions resulting from the control Centre’s security measures.
- Implement and continuously improve the security of networks dedicated to satellite control.
- Monitor the actions to be taken to eliminate detected vulnerabilities.
What You’ll Need:

- Good knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
- Good knowledge and practical experience of Cisco hardware (L2 and L3 equipment) and firewalls (Fortigate). Experience with Stormshield or Palo Alto firewalls, with Juniper, would be appreciated.
- Good knowledge of network security, partitioning methods (VLAN, VRF), setting up virtual private networks (VPN) and securing access points (radius, 802.1X).
- Experience with a cybersecurity tool and knowledge of cybersecurity rules and standards (ISO 27001).
- Good knowledge and practical experience in infrastructure monitoring.
- Knowledge of the Ansible tool.
- Basic knowledge of systems and practical experience in bash/python scripting.
- Fluency in French and good knowledge of written and spoken English.
Where You’ll Work:
You will be based in France, at the headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux. As the GEO satellite control network is isolated for security reasons, you will mainly work on site.
As part of the Secure Network and SOC Engineering Department, you will frequently collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers and antenna engineers. Your work will give you an understanding of the needs of the operational teams (controllers, satellite engineers and orbital calculation specialists).
You will be required to be on call for eight to ten weeks per year in order to keep the GEO satellite control network operational.
Travel to foreign sites may be required for the purpose of monitoring or replacing network equipment used in satellite control.
