Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and rigorous IRIS² Satellite Ground Stations, Integration, Testing & Validation Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in the integration, verification, validation, commissioning and operational readiness of the European Communication Gateways (EU Comm GW) across the IRIS² Ground Segment.

IRIS² is a European Union programme delivering secure and resilient multi-orbit satellite communications. The EU Communication Gateway connects LEO and MEO satellites to the terrestrial network and comprises full-motion Ground Station antennas, RF transmit/receive chains, feeder-link modems, RF monitoring, management systems, hosting services and associated site infrastructure.

In this position, you will work at the intersection of satellite communications, RF engineering, Ground Station systems, system integration, IVV, networking, monitoring and mission operations. You will collaborate with system architects, RF and antenna engineers, modem and equipment suppliers, software and management-system teams, network and infrastructure engineers, operations teams and external partners.

Who You Are

You are a highly motivated and methodical Ground Segment / satellite communications engineer with experience in complex Ground Station systems and system-level integration, verification and validation. You are comfortable working across RF equipment, antennas, modems, monitoring and management systems, network interfaces and operational infrastructure, and translating requirements into objective verification evidence. You demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across hardware, RF, network and software boundaries
  • Structured approach to integration, IVV, commissioning and acceptance
  • Strong understanding of satellite Ground Stations, feeder links, antenna tracking, RF chains and modems
  • Ability to work across equipment, interfaces, control systems, site infrastructure and operations
  • Strong requirements traceability, configuration control and anomaly-management discipline
  • Ability to use test equipment and interpret RF, link, telemetry and performance data
  • Autonomy, ownership and strong communication with technical, supplier and customer stakeholders
  • Commitment to safety, cybersecurity, traceability and continuous improvement

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to integration, verification, validation and commissioning activities for IRIS² Communication Gateway sites and Ground Segment interfaces.
  • Manage deployment, integration, testing and acceptance activities across suppliers, partners and site teams.
  • Define and execute system-level IVV strategies, test plans and acceptance campaigns.
  • Ensure requirements compliance through verification, traceability and evidence management.
  • Validate end-to-end Gateway performance, including antenna, RF, communications and timing subsystems.
  • Verify Gateway control, monitoring, scheduling, alarm-management and equipment-management functions.
  • Validate interoperability and resilience of Ground Segment, mission-control and terrestrial-network interfaces.
  • Execute functional, performance, redundancy, fault-injection and recovery test campaigns.
  • Analyse test results, telemetry and alarms to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate technical issue resolution, regression testing and acceptance closure with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Support factory, site and customer acceptance reviews, readiness assessments and operational handover activities.
  • Maintain operational documentation, configuration baselines and provide technical support during commissioning and early operations.

What You’ll Need

  • Degree in Telecommunications, RF, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in satellite communications, Ground Stations, Ground Segment integration, IVV or system testing.
  • Practical experience with system-level integration, verification and commissioning of complex RF and communication systems.
  • Strong knowledge of satellite link engineering, antenna tracking, RF subsystems, modem technologies and performance optimization.
  • Experience with RF measurement and diagnostic tools used for integration, troubleshooting and system validation.
  • Experience executing functional, performance, interface, resilience, acceptance and operational-readiness test campaigns.
  • Experience with requirements management, verification traceability, test evidence management and anomaly resolution processes.
  • Experience integrating and troubleshooting multi-vendor hardware, software, RF and network infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of modern satellite communication technologies, including Ka-band systems; DVB-S2X, 5G feeder links, LEO/MEO operations and Doppler compensation are advantageous.
  • Understanding of Ground Segment architectures, Gateway management systems, IP networking, resilient communications and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, APIs, telemetry, logging, simulators or Hardware-in-the-Loop environments is desirable.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with experience working across suppliers, subcontractors and international engineering teams.
  • Fluent English; French and other European languages are a plus
  • Willingness to travel to European Ground Station sites for installation, commissioning, acceptance and early operations

Eligibility to work in the European Union is mandatory

Where You’ll Work

You will be based in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris (France), in a highly technical environment dedicated to IRIS² Ground Segment engineering within the Engineering Department, working closely with Ground Station, RF, system, software, network, infrastructure, IVV and operations teams.

Home office may be considered after initial training and subject to operational constraints. Regular on-site presence and travel to Ground Station locations are expected.
